Dare to join? MIZ_innovationspace@rp15

"RETHINKING BROADCASTING" is the motto for the MIZ_innovationspace@rp15 on May 5 and 6, where the Media Innovation Center Babelsberg (MIZ) encourages media professionals to take part in a challenge, to break out of old routines and try something new. So all the guests and some 60 panellists will definitely leave their comfort zone and in twelve different sessions, target the basic requirements for innovation and systemic change. “MUTproben” (Testing Courage) is an invitation to self-experiment. MUT (Courage) – A Real Time Story Jam [May 6, 2015, 15:00] No PowerPoint, no script, no lecturing – courageous and authentic journalistic storytelling, presented entirely ad-lib. Seven writers will each have eight minutes to inspire their audience. Anita Zielina (NZZ) and Klaus Weinmaier (The Engagement Lab) will be curating the live magazine. Nicola Abe (Middle East Correspondent, DER SPIEGEL), Tamás Bodoky (founder and editor, Atlatszo.hu), Girma T. Fantaye (author and journalist), Saskia Jungnikl (author and journalist), Rene Wappler (journalist, Lausitzer Rundschau), Anne Wizorek (blogger and #Aufschrei activist), as well as Susann Hoffmann (founder, Edition F) will make sure you have an exciting (real) time.

HEARTup STARTup Slam – Love Your Idea [May 5, 2015, 15:00] Different media start-ups take heart and try to win the audience over with a comprehensive display of their ideas. Poetry Slammer Paul Weigl will chronicle the main results. And the audience gets to decide who wins the MIZ coaching and radio interview with FluxFM “MUTation” (see below). And the HEARTup STARTup balloon flight into the sky over Berlin will offer some fresh perspectives too.

FluxFM_MUTation @ MIZ_innovationspace [May 5 and 6, 2015, 13:45 respectively] Radio station FluxFM will be broadcasting an entire hour of courage and innovation, LIVE from the MIZ_innovationspace @rp15. Bold experiments and tentative innovation combined with high production pressure – FluxFM host Jan Mölleken will discuss development factors for a better media world, and the emotional state of professionals in the media and creative industry with his guests and the audience, live at re:publica. Guests include Mark Little (Storyful), Dr Frank Melchoir (BBC), and Ethan Zuckerman (MIT Media Lab).

MIZ_innovationlab 1 [May 5, 2015, 16:15] Virtual Reality, original visualization methods, innovative navigation tools, or digital interior design for networked creatives: Teams from innovation projects like Holodeck Now!, refer, and Shelfd will be presenting their current prototypes, part of the innovation promoting program of the MIZ Babelsberg. Jochen Spangenberg (Deutsche Welle), AC Coppens (THE MARKETING CATALYSTS), and Oliver Koch-Pahl (m4r) will offer feedback with a focus on the areas markets and innovation, branding and communication, and finance and networking. In the Ignite Talk, Reto Wettach (IxDS) will present his compact vision for future human-machine interactions. The session is hosted by Maurice Baiers aka Big Moe from 98,8 KISS FM.

MIZ_innovationlab 2 [May 6, 2015, 16:15] How do lobbyists work? Will Lumis become the new cross-media real-time solution? And how can video contents be verified effectively on the Internet? Teams from the MIZ innovation projects ZDF Lobby Radar, Luminoise, and wEYE will be presenting their innovative prototypes for new forms of reporting. Jennifer Schwanenberg (dpa-infocom), AC Coppens (THE MARKETING CATALYSTS), and Marcus Jordan (torial) will offer feedback with a focus on the areas markets and innovation, branding and communication, and finance and networking. In the Ignite Talk, Martin Kotynek (Zeit Online) will talk about journalistic storytelling in times of crowded data highways and impatient readers. The session is hosted by Maurice Baiers aka Big Moe from 98,8 KISS FM.

Creative Lounge – Future Stories. The Future Issue [May 6, 2015, 10:00] Kick-off event for the MIZ Format Festival 2015; the MIZ Babelsberg is honouring ideas for journalistic formats in TV, radio and online media. The most convincing concept is awarded a cash prize of 5,000 Euros. Publicist Michael Praetorius will hold the Kick-Off Talk together with the festival jurors, Dr Bettina Brinkmann (European Broadcasting Union), Ernst Feiler (UFA Serial Drama), Friedrich Küppersbusch (probono TV production), and Dr Ralf Müller-Schmid (DRadio Wissen), in a debate about the future of journalistic formats.
