Sonja Peteranderl is an editor at Der Spiegel and founder of BuzzingCities Lab, a think tank focusing on how digitalization influences security, organized crime and urban violence in megacities. She covers technology, security/policing, organized crime/cyber crime trends and justice, currently mostly focusing on Mexico/Latin America. Before, she has worked as a technology editor at Der Spiegel, as senior editor for Wired Germany Magazine, and a decade as a freelance foreign correspondent for media like Spiegel.de, Zeit Online, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Tagesspiegel, Impulse. She has covered criminal innovation with columns such as "CrimeWatch" (Wired) or "Cyber&Crime" (Stern.de). Sonja Peteranderl is a Kellen fellow at the American Council on Germany researching AI/scoring in the policing/security realm and a fellow of the Global Diplomacy Lab (GDL).
